OK...it has been brought to our attention that our new next door neighbor is a convicted child molester. Yep you read it right. He was part of a sting operation and was caught and through that sting they found a 13year old girl he had molested. My dilemma is what to do about my kids. What do I say to them about this man?? Do I say anything at all?? Do I make my other neighbors with young girls aware of the man?? I just have a lot of questions don't I. It worries me to have this man living next to us when I have an 11 year old girl who is budding as some might put it. His wife is nice ( still can't understand why she is still with him), we have met and talked and he has 2 young boys who ride the bus with P and T. P is good friends with the younger of the two boys. So Please if you have any thoughts or comments on this all is welcome. I just have no idea and you never think that your going to have some pervert living next to you . Thanks peoples!

OMG! I would so be freaking out. You HAVE to tell your kids to protect them. Give them all the normal warnings and tell them to never be alone or trust the man and definitely to not go in their house. I would never let your son stay all night over there either. Molesters can go both ways. I would try and steer him into play dates or friendships with other children. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

IF you don't tell them, someone else will. You need to educate them right upfront. Make them street smart, and BE HONEST! As ugly as it is, they need to know. MaKenna had a great teacher who taught them about child molesters. I would want my neighbors to tell me! We had one living across the street here too. He is currently in jail. (yes, he was military...17 years in and about to retire...bu-bye!)
Look it up on the internet, or go to your local police station and they may be able to give you some literature on it and ways to explain it to your kids.
I would not let P play alone with the kids, even if it's outside.

Ok . . . you say "it has been brought to your attention". . .by whom, and did you verify it?? If verified, then yes, you need to inform the kids. But make SURE it's verified before you do. If verified that really sucks! I love you bunches.
Yes mom, it was verified. He is a registered child sex offender. I called the cook county police and found out more since the sight (Illinois Sex Offenders) only said very little. They have to register on the sight here. It is manditory and a neighbor has alerts and when he registered it alerted him and he told us since P plays with his son and he knew we had a daughter. So there you go. And yes it REALLY sucks! Love you bunches too!
Well, dang! That really does suck! It would be awfully unfair to P's friend not to be able to play with him anymore, though. Just make sure P understands that it would not be safe to go in his house. He should always play in your yard or house. I'm sure you have told him that, though. I can't imagine how difficult it is to cope with this situation. Again. . .SUCKS!!

Cold? Here? Cold? Nawww. HECK YEAH it's cold!!!!! Snow and freakin cold! We are trying to stay warm. Electric blankets do wonders when your husband turns the heat down to 60 at night. Yeah you read that right!!!! Ask Kris, she had to have two blankets when she was here. Love you bunches too mom! I hope it warms up soon so you and Janine can come and visit!
